The Rural Alberta Advantage: Hometowns
The sweet little ditties below come from Canada's The Rural Alberta Advantage. I'm already calling them Polaris Prize winners for next year, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. These guys stir up so many influences that it's hard to characterize their sound. The most obvious (and already overused) comparison is to Neutral Milk Hotel. Ghost references, and Nils Edenloff's nasally, yearning delivery aside, RAA are much more pop-centric than anything Jeff Mangum's ever done.
Interestingly, the band has recently signed with Omaha's Saddle Creek Records. If you don't remember Saddle Creek, we probably weren't friends 5 years ago. Hometowns comes out 7/7. Here's hoping they can put Saddle Creek back on the map!
