The Replacements: Bastards of Young
This recent post on Aquarium Drunkard, combined with my discovery of an old copy of Tim on cassette, and the general realization that I don't listen to The Replacements often enough, has had me in a tizzy lately. Said tizzy led me to the video for "Bastards of Young."
I first saw this video on one of those MTV or VH1 100 Best Music Videos countdowns in high school. At the time, I liked the song but I wasn't really ready for The Replacements. I guess the fact that I was staying home in high school watching music video countdown shows and not getting shitfaced behind a strip mall explains why I wasn't ready for The Replacements... Now I'm older and wiser (I've gotten drunk in many strange places) and I realize that this video is not only genius, but it pretty much sums up the band's whole attitude in a few short minutes.
