Modern Mothers: Allison
If you got a chance to look at Modern Mothers Last.fm channel it would probably be called something like "ALL BOWIE ALL THE TIME." I'm not saying this just because I looked at their MySpace page and saw that their top two influences are Marc Bolan and David Bowie - that much was obvious. On first listen to "Allison" I even heard a little Television coming through, but regardless of which of their spirit guides you want to reference, it's clear that these guys are cultivating a distinct image of 70's New York cool. I really want to see what they look like. I'm imagining big permed out hair-dos, platform shoes and tight-cut jean jackets, but their MySpace only offers vintage snaps of vaguely porny looking characters or straight-up nudes... and some zebras. Ah, I suppose mysterious is cool so I'll just have to depend on the music. And this music seems like it will be a lot of fun to drink a cold beer and boogie to. I'll let you know how that goes.
