Under Covers: The Old Revolution

If I had to choose any modern band to do a faithful rendition of a Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen song, it would be The Walkmen. They've made a career out of melding classic nostalgia with contemporary chic. So, i'm glad to see, on this rainy day, that The Walkmen did a Daytrotter Session exclusively of Leonard Cohen covers (none of which are "Hallelujah") back in March 2008. You should definitely cop them all, but I recommend their version of "The Old Revolution," from Cohen's 1967 debut above all. It's pretty much a spot-on recreation of the original, only with organ instead of mouth harp.
