This LP Crashes Hard Drives

We're about two weeks past Record Store Day and I'm still culling through my acquisitions. I already let you know about some of my favorites, including the live Pavement LP and a Guided By Voices 12", but the This LP Crashes Hard Drives 12" takes the proverbial "cake." A joint effort by some of the best retro-soul and reissue labels on this great spinning globe, including Numero Group, Daptone, Jazzman, Finders Keepers, Now Again, Light in the Attic and Vampi Soul, This LP Crashes Hard Drives is a 12" gate-fold with a zine, poster and a CD Sampler on one side and a 10-song vinyl comp. with songs ranging from middle-eastern psych to gospel on the other. Oh, and there are amazing liner notes by David Fricke and Charles Aaron.

If you're a follower of any of the labels involved, or you just live the thrill of discovering new (and sometimes old) music, you must go out and find it. This is the kind of record that reminds music lovers why we should keep searching and buying, and most importantly, keep listening - there's always something waiting to be found. Now if you'll excuse me, I have about 10 new bands to go find out about...

Los Destellos - Guajira Sicodelica

Pisces feat. Linda Bruner - Sam

The Monks - Pretty Suzanne
