Dan Auerbach: Keep It Hid on MPR
Black Keys' singer/guitarist, Dan Auerbach's solo album has been on steady repeat for me since, well, since before it even came out. Most people seem to like it, but the obligatory complaint seems to be that a solo album just wasn't necessary from a guy who's already 50% of a blues band. Well, Dan does a pretty good job of explaining himself here on Minnesota Public Radio.
For me, what sets Keep It Hid apart from the Black Keys catalog is the slow songs. They form a sort of suite right in the middle of the 14 tracks and, even if they still kind of sound a lot like Black Keys songs, they really accentuate the harder blues tracks.
