once of use

Maybe it's the amateur photographer in me, but I'm a sucker for photos of abandoned buildings. A decaying building is a sort of pre-fab, faux-artsy subject matter to begin with. It makes the photographer more of a reporter than an artist. But it's not the artistry of these images that's interesting, it's the idea of a building that once served a specific purpose to human beings, becoming a forgotten heap of rubble, overtaken by plant growth and forgotten to the world at large. The fact that these structures serve no purpose to the respectable world is what makes them mysterious. Now they're only of interest to the trespassers.
